Looking to take your folk guitar playing to the next stage? Join our 8-week Folk Guitar Course, designed for players who already know the basics and want to expand their skills in traditional and contemporary folk styles.

Over the course, we’ll explore a wide range of techniques that bring folk guitar to life, including:

• Fingerpicking patterns

• Travis picking

• Chord voicings in open position

• Alternate tunings (DADGAD, Drop D, and more)

• Walking bass lines

• Strumming dynamics & syncopation

• Hammer-ons, pull-offs & slides in accompaniment

• Crosspicking

• Rhythmic muting & percussive strums

Alongside these techniques, we’ll dedicate a section to Scottish folk guitar, learning how to capture the lilt and drive of traditional Scottish melodies and accompaniment styles.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to accompany songs with confidence, arrange folk tunes with colour and variety, and add authentic stylistic touches to your playing.
